New Delhi: Virat Kohli shared a heartfelt note for his wife and ‘Bangalore girl’ Anushka Sharma on Instagram after lifting his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). RCB brought an end to an 18-year-long wait for their first-ever IPL title after beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in the much-anticipated IPL 2025 final on Tuesday.

RCB lifting the elusive trophy also ended Kohli’s quest to win his maiden IPL title with the franchise. The star batter has been part of the RCB setup since the inception of the league in 2008 and is one of the few players to have played for only one franchise throughout his career. An emotional Kohli was seen breaking down as tears flowed through his cheeks after RCB won the final against Punjab Kings on Tuesday.

Following the victory in the final, Kohli celebrated with his teammates and wife Anushka, who was present in the stands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Kohli and Anushka shared warm hugs while taking part in RCB’s trophy celebrations after their victory in the final. The RCB star also shared a special note for his wife, who is a ‘Bangalore girl’, revealing how they both lived together through the journey of highs and lows.

“I’ve seen it for 18 years and she’s seen it for 11. Suffered the same moments since 2014 and celebrated every close win and the madness of our supporters at the Chinnaswamy. We’re both equally relieved and since shes a bangalore girl too this is far more special for her. Together all the way through @anushkasharma,” Kohli captioned his post for Anushka.

How did Virat Kohli perform in IPL 2025 final?

Kohli top-scored for RCB in the final with a 43-run knock. However, he was widely criticised for his sluggish approach and lack of intent as he managed only three boundaries in his entire innings. However, cameos from Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone and Romario Shepherd lifted RCB to 190/9 in 20 overs.

Punjab Kings were expected to chase down the target comfortably on a batting-friendly track at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, RCB bowlers produced a brilliant combined effort to restrict Punjab Kings to 184/7 in 20 overs and secure a thrilling victory for their team. Krunal Pandya was the pick of the bowlers for RCB with 2/17 off his 4 overs.
