New Delhi: India beat South Africa by 7 runs in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval in Barbados and ended the long-standing ICC trophy drought. Chasing the target of 177 runs, The Proteas men were in control of the match. Klaasen struck 24 runs of Axar Patel’s over and turned the match in South Africa’s favour.
Hardik Pandya dismissed Klaasen in the 17th over and pulled things back in India’s favour. Bumrah and Arshdeep also did a sensational job in the death overs. South Africa was on the verge of winning their maiden T20 World Cup title after Tristan Stubbs and de Kock attacked the Indian bowlers and stitched a brilliant partnership of 58 runs in the middle overs. Klaasen also stitched a great partnership with Miller but South Africa failed to chase down the target. Hardik Pandya picked up three wickets. Arshdeep and Bumrah also took two wickets each.
After India clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 title, Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli and Indian captain Rohit Sharma broke down in tears.

Earlier, India posted 176 runs in the 20 overs after opting to bat first. Virat Kohli scored 76 runs off 59 balls, his remarkable knock was laced with two maximums and four boundaries. Axar Patel also scored 47 runs off 31 balls with four maximums and one boundary.
