New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer and chief selector Chetan Sharma has backed star batter Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma to bounce back in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The first match of the all-important five-Test series will be held on November 22 in Perth and the Indian team is currently gearing up for the crucial series.
Both Kohli and Rohit have been struggling to score runs as the duo has been going through poor form in the longest format which has even raised questions on their place in Team India. Both the star batters failed to cross even the 100-run mark in the last home Test series against New Zealand with Kohli accumulating just 93 runs in the six innings while Rohit scoring 91 runs. Despite their poor form, Chetan believes that the stalwarts will dazzle in the Australia series.
Let’s honour and respect both: Chetan Sharma
Chetan Sharma, in an interaction with Times of India, said that all of us should respect and honour both the star players for what they have achieved for the nation. “Let’s honour and respect what Rohit and Virat have done for the country. Players like Rohit and Virat are never out of form. They are never in a lean or bad patch. These words shouldn’t be used for them. We are thankful to them. They are still doing it. We always talk about them and focus on them and want them to shine every time because they are superstars. Just wait and watch what Rohit and Virat do in Australia. They will dazzle with their bats,” Sharma told.
Rohit, Kohli’s Test performance 2024
