New Delhi: Delhi have include Virat Kohli among probables for their Ranji Trophy side but the former India skipper is yet to confirm his presence for the remainder of the premier domestic cricket tournament.

Besides the top-order batter, keeper-batter Rishabh Pant and pacer Harshit Rana were also named in Delhi’s list of 38 probables for the remaining games.

It is a norm for the Delhi District and Cricket Association to name their star performers in its probables list but the squad is finalised on the basis of their availability.

With the Board of Control for Cricket in India directing all national team players to play in domestic games, it would be interesting to see whether Kohli returns to play for Delhi in Ranji Trophy for the first time since 2012.

Delhi are currently fourth in the standings in Group D with 14 points from five games.

Kohli is in the midst of a prolonged slump in form in red-ball cricket, struggling to negotiate the moving ball outside the off stump in India’s 1-3 defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar series.

Like Kohli, India skipper Rohit Sharma struggled in Australia too and joined the Mumbai team’s training on Tuesday for their next round of matches beginning on January 23.

“We want him (Kohli) to play but we haven’t heard from him while Harshit Rana is selected in the T20 squad and hence is unavailable,” DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI.

Pant available

Pant has confirmed his availability to play for Delhi in their next Ranji Trophy fixture against Saurashtra that begins in Rajkot from January 23, making it the first time that he would play in the tournament since the 2017-2018 season.

“Yes, Pant has confirmed his availability for next Ranji game and will join the squad in Rajkot directly,” Sharma said.

Young Team India batters Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are also expected to be available to play for their respective state teams.

Besides Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Harshit Rana were also named in Delhi’s list of 38 probables for the remaining Ranji Trophy games.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
