New Delhi: Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most followed and revered footballers to have ever graced the field. Fans adore him for his amazing goal-scoring ability at a consistent pace. He is the highest goal scorer in the Saudi Pro League, scoring 15 times in the league for Al Nassr. His latest exploits saw him score a brace on Monday against Al Wasl, with his career goals now standing at 923.

February 5th marked his 40th birthday which saw fans pay tribute from across the world to the Portuguese legend. One standout tribute came from Times Square in New York City, where supporters came together to unveil his statue painted in the colour of the Portuguese national team jersey. Tributes also came in the form of fans shouting “Siuuu”, which means ‘yes’. It was something Ronaldo once used after scoring a goal years ago and has now become synonymous with him.

Ronaldo’s feat in the world of football continues despite his age and the former Real Madrid star has said he has his sights on a 1000 career goals. He is also currently looking for a trophy with Al Nassr, having conquered every major trophy in Europe with Manchester United and Real Madrid. He has won a total of five Ballon d’Ors and is the highest individual goal scorer in the international arena with 135 goals.

He also has one of the highest numbers of followers on Instagram as an individual, with 648 million followers. In September last year, his YouTube debut received huge attention as he became the first individual to cross the 1 billion subscriber mark.

For Real Madrid he scored 450 times between 2009 and 2016 and had scored 50-plus goals in six successive seasons, a record he still holds to himself. Even Real paid tribute to him on social media, wishing him on his birthday. In the 2022 World Cup, the Portuguese striker became the first player to score in five World Cups in a row. Since the 2004 European championship, he hasn’t missed one tournament playing for Portugal
