New Delhi: New Zealand fielder Glenn Phillips once again stunned the Dubai International Stadium and it was a moment for the fans of the Black Caps to cheer for. Phillips took a magnificent catch to dismiss Indian opener Shubman Gill in the final match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between New Zealand and India on Sunday.

After being set to chase 252, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill laid the foundation with their 100-plus run-stand with the Indian skipper being the aggressor among the two. Rohit smashed seven boundaries and three sixes to complete his 58th half-century in One-Day Internationals.

As it looked that the Indian openers were flourishing in the chase, a Glenn Phillips special happened and that ended the knock of Indian opener Shubman Gill. It was once again the acrobatic dive that caught everyone’s attention, and most importantly, left Gill stunned.

During the fourth ball of the 19th over bowled by Mitchell Santner, Gill played a drive in the aerial route against flighted delivery. Phillips, who was stationed near the covers, made a dive to his right and leaped to grab a one-handed stunner. This was just one notch better than the one that dismissed Virat Kohli in the group stage fixture.

Virat Kohli departed for just one run, missing the opportunity to go past Chris Gayle to become the leading run-getter in the Champions Trophy tournament overall. He was trapped leg-before-wicket off Michael Bracewell’s bowling in the 20th over.

Rohit went out to charge for a big hit and was stumped out by New Zealand wicketkeeper Tom Latham off Rachin Ravindra’s delivery. The Indian captain made 76 off 83 balls to lead the chase.

Glenn Phillips of New Zealand took a breathtaking one-handed catch to dismiss India’s Shubman Gill in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final. This stunning catch, reminiscent of his earlier dismissal of Virat Kohli, significantly shifted the momentum of the match.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
