WATCH: Nitish Kumar Reddy breaks the internet with outrageous six in pink-ball Test

New Delhi: Nitish Kumar Reddy breathed life into India’s listless innings in the second Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. The Hyderabad all-rounder stunned the Australian bowlers with a sensational counter-attacking knock, filled with some outrageous strokes. After India lost two wickets – R Ashwin (22) and Harshit Rana (0)-  in the same over, Reddy launched an insane counterattack on the Aussie bowlers.

The young superstar, who made a good impression with both bat and ball in his debut Test in Perth recently, played some stunning shots to wow the Adelaide crowd.

Nitish dished out a brutal hammering to Scott Boland in the 42nd over, hitting the Aussie paceman for two sixes and a boundary. One six, in particular, caught everyone’s eye.

Nitish took the length ball of Boland and reverse-scooped it over the slips brilliantly. The connection was so good that the ball carried past the boundary line. Fans, commentators and even Nitish’s batting partner Jasprit Bumrah were left amazed by the audacious shot.

Nitish top scores as stalwarts fail to fire

Nitish top-scored for India with a brisk 42-run knock of 54 balls. His innings was studded with three sixes and as many fours. Reddy showed great perseverance and composure to first weather the storm in a difficult situation and then take the attack to the opposition when the situation demanded.

While Nitish continued his good run with the bat, Virat Kohli failed to carry his form in the Adelaide Test. The Delhi dasher, who scored a century in the Perth Test, was dismissed for just seven runs. Meanwhile, returning skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just 3 runs after he demoted himself to No.6. Shubman Gill (31) and KL Rahul (37) looked good during their 69-run partnership but failed to convert the start into a bog score.

For Australia, Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers, bagging his career-best haul of 6 for 48 to help Australia bundle out India for 180 in 44.1 overs.
