New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and his family at the Patna Airport.

Suryvnashi returned to his hometown after taking the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 by storm with his remarkable performances for the Rajasthan Royals (RR). The left-handed batter left the IPL stage after the Royals failed to qualify for the playoffs

PM Modi shared photos of his meeting with Suryavanshi and his family on social media. He heaped praise on the youngster for his extraordinary batting skills.

Suryavanshi emerges as one of the breakout stars

The Bihar batter was one of the breakout stars from this edition of the IPL after being bought by the Royals for Rs 1.10 crore at the IPL mega-auction. He impressed the fans, contemporaries and former cricketers with his fearless approach. Against some of the top bowlers in the world, Sooryavanshi showed immense maturity at the biggest stage in domestic T20 cricket in his maiden appearance.

Suryavanshi, in his debut IPL campaign, scored 252 runs in seven innings at a remarkable strike rate of 206.55. He scored a century and a fifty apiece in IPL 2025.

He announced his arrival on the big stage with a blistering century against the Gujarat Titans. The Bihar batter reached the three-figure mark in 35 balls and became the youngest to score a T20 century and the second-fastest IPL century.

PM Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day trip to four States, led a mega roadshow in Patna on Thursday evening. PM also inaugurated the Rs 1,200-crore new terminal of Patna airport.
