WATCH: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli in splits over revisited ‘Lagaan’ poster in Colombo

New Delhi: Team India captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were involved in a light-hearted moment during the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka. The Indian cricket team is currently on the Sri Lanka tour and is done with the T20I leg and the two ODIs of the three-match series, where the hosts are leading 1-0. The Indian cricket stalwarts became part of the side from the ODIs and are a crucial part of the setup at present.

During the first ODI on August 2, Rohit and Virat shared a jovial laugh over a creative fan poster. The moment was captured when the Indian team took the field and its video has gone viral on social media. The fans are sharing the video and have already flooded the comment section, lauding their camaraderie and on-field friendship.

As the Indian players started forming a huddle near the boundary rope, Kohli’s attention was caught by a fan’s poster in the stands. He quickly called Rohit to have a look for himself at the reimagined poster of the iconic Bollywood movie “Lagaan”, which featured the current Indian cricket team as characters of the film. The poster was titled “Modern Day Lagaan Warriors,” as it delicately replaced the face of the movie’s lead Aamir Khan with that of Rohit. The team members were also incorporated into the poster, making it a creative one as Kohli and Rohit couldn’t hold their laughter after having a look.

ODI series so far

India and Sri Lanka tied the first ODI after battling it out in a gruelling match but… India had a fair chance of pulling it off. Sri Lanka posted 230/8 in their allotted 50 overs which was levelled by India after Arshdeep Singh failed to run a single and turned out to be the final wicket. It was the second consecutive tie between the nations after both levelled the scores in the third and final T20I.

In the second ODI, the Charith Asalanka-led side posted a total of 240/9 in their 50 overs. India, on the back of Rohit Sharma’s fifty and Shubman Gill’s 35 started off well but the middle order yet again failed as the Men in Blue were bowled out for 208 runs. Sri Lanka won the match by 32 runs and got a 1-0 lead in the series.
