New Delhi: India Women cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey have become a part of the Trinbago Knight Riders franchise for the upcoming Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024. Both stalwarts arrived in Trinidad and Trinbago for the event taking place in the West Indies and are joined by former fast bowler Jhulan Goswami, who will be acting as a team mentor for the Knight Riders.

The WCPL 2024 will kickstart on August 22 with the opening clash between defending champions Barbados Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Trinbago Knight Riders will kick off their campaign on August 23 as they take on Barbados Royals. Each participating team is gearing up for the eight-day tournament that will culminate on August 30 with the final match.

Jemimah, Shikha reach West Indies

The Trinbago Knight Riders shared a short video on their social media accounts on Monday as they welcomed Indian players Jemimah Rodrigues and Shikha Pandey who landed in the Caribbean for the upcoming WCPL season. They were joined by India legend Jhulan Goswami as the troika said, “We are TKR.” For the caption, TKR wrote, “The Knight Riders from India have arrived!”

Jemimah bats in the middle-order while Shikha Pandey is well known for her pace bowling and both are among the four overseas stars roped in by the Trinbago Knight Riders for WCPL 2024. The other two overseas stars are former Australian captain Meg Lanning and Jess Jonassen. The team has added former India pacer Jhulan Goswami who will serve as their team mentor. The skipper will be Deandra Dottin who will lead a team full of Caribbean stars like Chedean Nation and Kycia Knight.
