New Delhi: The excitement is reaching fever pitch ahead of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, which returns to the global cricket scene next month for the first time since 2017. The global cricket body has set the ball rolling with a new promotional video that pays tribute to the iconic ‘white jackets’.

The promo features iconic Pakistan fast bowler and former captain Wasim Akram, who urged fans across the world to join the journey of champions as the eight nations put it ‘All On The Line’ to achieve the ultimate dream.

The comeback tournament will feature the top eight teams battling it out in 15 matches across 19 days in an intense showdown from 19 February to 9 March 2025 in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. The teams will not only vie for the Champions Trophy but also the coveted and famed white jackets.

Wasim Akram said: “The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy represents the best of the best and the unveiling of the white jacket, which symbolizes greatness, will now build the excitement of the event across the global cricket community. Next month’s Champions Trophy will see the strongest team win the tournament, as every game is a pressure game and there is no chance for any team to have a break.”

Battle for the white jacket

The white jacket symbolises the winning mentality, never-say-die attitude and relentless pursuit of glory. Pakistan was the last team to be awarded the famed jacket as the winner of the 2017 edition.

The mega-event will be played in Pakistan and the UAE from February 19 with the blockbuster clash between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi. The second match of the marquee tournament will be played between India and Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

After refusing to travel to Pakistan citing security reasons, India will play its matches in Dubai. The blockbuster India-Pakistan clash will be played on February 23.

Five teams including Australia, and South Africa have announced their Champions Trophy squads so far. India is likely to announce their squad on January 19.
