Chennai: At least three people injured and five two-wheelers damaged after a 14-year-old boy driving a car hit them on Bharathi Salai in Zam Bazaar in the city on Tuesday evening. Police sources said one person had major injuries while other two persons sustained minor injuries. Besides, five two-wheelers were damaged in the accident. The 14-year-old, accompanied by his friend of the same age, was driving his uncle’s car on the main road when the accident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the Jambazar Bharti Road was busy as usual on Tuesday evening. At around 6.30 pm, a speeding car rammed into two-wheelers parked on the side of the road, causing an accident. After the accident occured, the minor boy who was driving the car, fled away from the scene. The Jam Bazaar police who were engaged in security at that time were about 1 km away. They were alerted by the public and the police chased the car to a distance and caught them. During the investigation, it was revealed that the driver of the car was a 14-year-old boy studying in class 9. It was learned that the boy was driving the car along with his friend when the accident took place.
After this, the officers impounded the car and the boy’s parents were also called for further investigation.
