Wayanad : As per the latest reports two units of Army and a 250 member NDRF team are undertaking the rescue operations in Wayanad.
As per reports, 19 people have died till now. The dead bodies were found in the Chaliyar river in wayanad. Road traffic to Wayanad has been completely halted as the police and the district administration has warned the public not to venture in the roads as many areas are landslide prone.
As per reports from Wayanad, landslides were reported in three regions. Following the landslides, many areas have been completely inundated. Rescue operations are facing a major challenge as the water levels of the rivers have risen to alarming levels.
Five state cabinet ministers have reached the spot to look into the situation. Meanwhile, the depth of the landslides are yet to be ascertained and many people are feared to be trapped in the interior regions of Wayanad.
