After missing a critical penalty in the first part of extra time, Ronaldo broke down in tears, but he later went up to score Portugal’s first penalty kick in their shootout victory. After being charged with “ambush marketing” during Portugal’s Euro 2024 match against Slovenia this week, Cristiano Ronaldo may be disciplined by UEFA.

Cristiano Ronaldo is an investor and the brand ambassador for the wearable fitness technology company WHOOP, which released the 39-year-old’s heart rate statistics during Portugal’s round of 16 match against Slovenia on Monday night.

The Portuguese icon was spotted with a WHOOP device covered by a bandage on his left wrist. The company later shared his heart rate data on social media, revealing that it had decreased from over 170 beats per minute at the end of the first half to less than 110bpm prior to him missing the penalty in extra time.
