New Delhi: India’s javelin ace Neeraj Chopra is all set to kickstart his 2025 season on Friday when he participates in the Doha Diamond League scheduled at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha. Neeraj will be one of two Indians taking part in the men’s javelin throw event alongside Kishore Jena, as the two will compete against each other as part of a star-studded lineup.
The javelin field at the competition will be brimming with extremely strong 11 contenders, as Neeraj will be up against some of the world’s finest javelin throwers. The likes of Anderson Peters, Jakub Vadlejch, Julian Weber, Julius Yego, Keshorn Walcott, Oliver Helander, Roderick Genki Dean, Max Dehning, and Ahmed Sameh Mohamed Hussein are all taking part in the marquee competition.
Neeraj will be hoping to claim his second Diamond League title with a major focus on starting the preparations for the 2025 World Championships, where he will aim to defend his prestigious title (a gold in 2023). It will be exciting to watch if Neeraj is able to breach the elusive 90-metre mark this season. The competition will also feature two other Indians – Gulveer Singh in the men’s 5000m race (10:15 PM IST) and Parul Chaudhary in the women’s 3000m steeplechase (11:14 PM IST).
