New Delhi: Director-choreographer Farah Khan recently shared a funny incident from a party she hosted for international pop star Ed Sheeran. During an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Farah and host Kapil Sharma reminisced about one of these star-studded events, where the Main Hoon Na filmmaker’s inebriated state led to a humorous misunderstanding.
Kapil kicked off the story by teasing Farah about her hosting skills. He claimed that she once invited the Shape of You crooner to a party but failed to recognise him. Farah quickly corrected the story, clarifying that it wasn’t Ed she failed to recognise, but his music.

Farah confessed that she was quite drunk at the party and ended up scolding the DJ for playing what she thought were funeral songs. “When Ed Sheeran had come, we all got a little drunk. The DJ was playing something, and in my inebriated state, I went up to the DJ and abused him a little. I asked him, ‘Kya maiyyat ke gaane baja raha hai (Why are you playing these funeral songs)?’ The DJ replied, ‘Ma’am, I am playing Ed Sheeran songs.’ I said, ‘Ok then, carry on,’” she said, laughing.
This wasn’t the first time Farah hosted a party for Ed Sheeran. The pop sensation has visited India multiple times, and the filmmaker has thrown two notable parties in his honour. The first, back in 2017, was attended by Bollywood A-listers like Malaika Arora, Abhishek Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan.

This year, Ed returned to India, and Farah co-hosted a dinner party with Shah Rukh Khan at his Bandra home, Mannat. Videos and photos from the gathering quickly went viral, showing the celebrities enjoying a relaxed evening.

Ed also appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show last week, where he spoke fondly about his time in India and meeting Shah Rukh Khan. “The last time I came here in 2017 we met, but this time it was just wonderful. He is such a nice guy, for how big he is, he is just lovely. I had a lot of fun, I met his family, and we jammed out some songs. They taught me how to dance a little bit,” Ed shared.
