New Delhi: Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh clinched India’s second medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday, July 30 as the pair bagged a bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Manu and Sarabjot scripted history by claiming India’s first team medal in shooting at the Olympics. 22-year-old Manu also became the first Indian woman to win two medals in the same edition of the Games.

Manu and Sarabjot were up against favourites South Korea in the bronze medal match on Tuesday having finished third in the qualification round. The Indian pair defeated the Korean pair of Lee Won-ho and Oh Ye-jin 16-10 to finish third on the podium and take the bronze medal. The Indian pair didn’t get off to the best of starts as they lost the first series.

However, Manu and Sarabjot bounced back well to take a 4-2 lead after the third series before extending it to 8-2 after the fifth series. South Korea made a comeback to close the gap at 6-10 but the Indian pair held their nerves to script a memorable victory and bag India’s second medal at the Paris Games.

Earlier, Manu won India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 after bagging a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event. Manu finished third in the final behind South Korea’s Oh Ye Jin and Kim Yeji, who won the gold and the silver medal, respectively.

Manu became the first Indian female shooter to win a medal at the Olympics, bringing an end to India’s 12-year-long drought for a shooting medal at the showpiece event. Manu has played a part in both medals won by India so far at the Games and has become the country’s joint-most successful Olympian in a single edition.
