The discussion of resignation of Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar has again gained momentum. In fact, amidst the process of Panchayat elections in the state, Punjab BJP in-charge Vijay Rupani held a meeting with senior party leaders in Chandigarh. State president Sunil Jakhar did not attend the meeting.
Jakhar has been keeping distance from the main meetings and events of the party for a long time. It is being said that Jakhar has met National President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and proposed to resign. He was also in Delhi on Monday.
According to party sources, a new state president may soon be appointed in place of Jakhar. Jakhar’s resentment towards the party increased when Ravneet Singh Bittu, who joined BJP from Congress, was made Union Minister of State by the party high command.
