New Delhi: Nikhil Solsale, who is a key official in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) management, was arrested by the Bengaluru Police on Friday morning in connection with the tragic stampede that occurred outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s IPL victory parade on Wednesday.
Sosale has been a prominent figure with the RCB franchise and is often spotted at IPL games throughout the 2025 season. His presence was noticeable in the stands, where he was frequently seen sitting next to Anushka Sharma. He has been associated with the franchise since its early days and has played a crucial role in shaping RCB’s brand identity and marketing strategy.

The Stampede Tragedy
The tragic stampede that unfolded on Wednesday during RCB’s victory parade claimed the lives of 11 people and left 33 others injured. The state government wasted no time in taking action with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah demanding the arrests of key officials from RCB, DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt. Ltd (the event management company) and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).
Apart from Sosale, the police also arrested Sunil Mathew from DNA and detained three of his staff members. Several top police officials, including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, have been suspended following the incident.
Judicial probe and RCB’s response
A one-man judicial commission headed by retired Karnataka High Court judge Justice Michael D’Cunha has been set up to investigate the stampede with a report expected within 30 days.
RCB has announced financial aid for the families of the deceased and launched an ‘RCB Cares’ fund to assist those injured. Despite criticism for continuing the celebrations inside the stadium while chaos unfolded outside, the franchise has promised to support the victims’ families.
