New Delhi: Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of German youth international Tom Bischof from Hoffenheim on a free transfer. The 19-year-old midfielder will join the Bavarian giants at the end of the 2024/25 season and has penned a contract until 2029.
Sporting director Christoph Freund expressed his delight, calling Bischof “one of the biggest German talents” and praising his technical skills and maturity. Born in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, Bischof started his football journey with TSV Amorbach before joining Hoffenheim’s youth system at the age of six. He progressed through the ranks, becoming Hoffenheim’s youngest-ever Bundesliga player at 16 years and 263 days during his debut in March 2022.
This season, Bischof has been a consistent performer, featuring in 16 Bundesliga matches, scoring twice, and providing two assists. His versatility allows him to play as a holding midfielder, a number 10, or even out wide. Known for his creativity and work rate, he has also impressed in Europe, starting all six of Hoffenheim’s Europa League matches.
Bischof’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed at the international level. He has represented Germany from the U16s to U20s and won the prestigious Fritz Walter Gold Medal in 2024 as the best U19 player in the country.
