New Delhi: A big-screen television in Manchester United’s dressing room was damaged by an enraged Ruben Amorim after the team’s humiliating 3-1 loss to Brighton last weekend. Sunday was the seventh overall loss of Amorim’s thus far lackluster tenure as United suffered their sixth loss in 12 Premier League home games at Old Trafford. That’s even though he didn’t take over until November. During his post-match press conference, Amorim, 39, allegedly lost his anger when criticizing his players’ appalling performance and later called them “possibly the worst team in United’s history.”
Chairs were kicked, tables were overturned, and each player was warned to “shape up or f*ck off.” He lost his fury so badly that players became silent and tears were shed in the locker room as things took a bad turn there.
According to The Athletic, the former Sporting Lisbon manager let his frustration out on his players, which was a significant departure from his custom of remaining silent until the following day. According to the publication, the TV, which is utilized for tactics both before kickoff and at halftime, needs to be fixed as soon as possible. However, it is believed that the repairs will be finished in time for Thursday’s Europa League match between the Red Devils and Rangers at Old Trafford.
The frustration brewing was evident

Since the Portuguese coach typically doesn’t speak right away following games, Amorim’s rage was especially noticeable to those in the locker room. Although United’s players have before dealt with irate coaches, the 39-year-old’s response to the defeat was particularly noteworthy. After his alleged outburst, Amorim told reporters, “In [the past] 10 games in Premier League, we won two,”
“Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me. We are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I have full knowledge of that.
“We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United. I know you [the media] want headlines but I am saying that because we have to acknowledge that and to change that. Here you go: your headlines.”
‘Bizarre and ridiculous’ is how former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher described Amorim’s remarks, which left him startled. Carragher further stated that a pundit in his position would say something like that, and Amorim would have to defend it. Carragher was equally confused and failed to understand what he stands to gain or what the advantage is, criticising Amorim for saying those things in the interview.
What next for Amorim and United?

Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, which he is devoted to after employing it with Braga and Lisbon, is still difficult for United’s players to understand. Their two greatest performances came earlier this month when they significantly gave up control away from home and drew with both Liverpool and Arsenal, the latter of whom they defeated on penalties.
“I knew it was going to be hard to put in a completely new idea in the moment,” Amorim explained. “But when you lose games, you don’t have that luck to win three games in a row, it’s becoming really hard. That’s why I’m telling [you] we are going to suffer because I’m going to continue to do the same.”
Things have gone from bad to worse for United and Amorim, who looks more frustrated than ever. However, the good news for him is that United will get the break they so desperately needed from the league fixtures. When United host Rangers, they hope to maintain their undefeated European record under Amorim. With 12 points after six games, the Red Devils are on track to make it to the knockout stages without having to go through the play-offs after drawing their first three games before winning one under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Ruben Amorim’s frustration hit breaking point after Manchester United’s latest poor performance. In a fiery dressing room outburst, the manager reportedly destroyed a TV, venting his anger at the squad’s lack of effort and commitment.
