New Delhi: The most anticipated return of Conor McGregor in the UFC has become a question on every UFC fan’s mind. McGregor hadn’t seen in action since 2021 after his leg injury in the fight against Dustin Poirier. During the UFC 310 post-fight press conference UFC President Dana White responded to the ongoing controversy on the Irish fighter.
McGregor was set to make his return at the UFC 303 event but due to his injury, he pulled out from the fight. McGregor was feuding with Michael Chandler for almost two years but Chandler had to move on from the high-stakes McGregor fight. Recently Chandler fought against Charles Oliveira at a UFC 309 event.
“He hasn’t been fighting here in how long? If he does fight, it will be sometime next year,” White said.
White also stated that McGregor’s return was likely to happen in 2024 but due to his legal cases, he postponed his return.
Recently, McGregor was also trapped in a legal case as he was convicted in a civil rape case. Nikita Hand accused McGregor in a rape and assault case, in which the jury planted Rs. 1.78 crore penalty on McGregor.
McGregor denied all the allegations that were pluses upon him. Conor was seen with his wife and mother in court.
McGregor had been out of action for a long time and UFC might impose a ban on McGregor due to his disciplinary issues. But how much bigger is McGregor’s name in combat sports can play a significant role in avoiding the ban.
UFC champion to vacate his title
UFC Featherweight champion Ilia Topuria potentially vacate his title and move to the Lightweight division. Topuria aims to fight against Islam Makhachev and wants to win the title but Islam is set to face Arman Tsarukyan at the UFC 311 event and will not be anytime available for Topuria.
Topuria showed an interest in fighting against Charles Oliveira, who is currently the number-one contender for the Lightweight title.
