WPL 2025 points table: Smriti Mandhana powers RCB to thumping win against Delhi Capitals

New Delhi: Smriti Mandhana smashed a blistering knock of 81 runs off 47 deliveries to power Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a thumping victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 on Monday. RCB rode on a brilliant opening partnership between Mandhana and Danni Wyatt-Hodge to chase down the target of 142 runs with 3.1 overs to spare at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

Mandhana and Wyatt got RCB off to a flyer in the run chase as they dominated the proceedings against the DC pacers in the Powerplay. While Mandhana completed her fastest WPL fifty off just 27 balls, Wyatt complemented the RCB skipper well with boundaries at regular intervals in to her 42 off 33 balls laced with 7 fours.

The RCB openers combined to put on a solid stand of 107 runs off just 55 balls for the first wicket to set the stage for a clinical victory for their team. Mandhana was the aggressor in the partnership with 3 sixes and 10 fours during her 81-run knock. The duo’s partnership left the DC bowlers clueless as RCB eventually completed a successful run chase in just 16,5 overs to bag their second win in a row in WPL 2025.

With the win, Royal Challengers Bengaluru moved to the top of the WPL 2025 points table as they now have 4 points from two matches. RCB defeated Gujarat Giants by pulling off a record chase in their opener. Delhi Capitals are at the 3rd spot on the WPL 2025 points table with two points from 1 win a loss after two matches.

DC bowlers fail to impress

Delhi Capitals brought in the likes of Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen in the playing XI for the important clash against RCB but the move backfired as both bowlers were taken to the cleaners by Mandhana and Wyatt. While Kapp conceded 27 runs in just 2 overs, Jonnasen gave away 37 runs off her 4 overs.

Earlier, RCB produced a disciplined bowling effort to bowl out Delhi Capitals for 141 runs after asking them to bat first in the game. Jemimah Rodrigues looked in great touch en route to her 22-ball 34 but couldn’t convert her start into a big score. Renuka Thakur and spinner Georgia Wareham picked up 3 wickets apiece for RCB.
