New Delhi: Sid Eudy, better known by his ring name Sid Vicious, has died aged 63 after battling with cancer for several years. The news of his passing was announced by his family as they issued a statement on Monday. Eudy is survived by his wife Sabrina Paige and their two sons Gunnar and Frank. During his wrestling career, Sidney “Sid” Raymond Eudy was popular with fans with many ring names including Sid Justice and Sycho Sid.
Gunnar made the news public through a Facebook post writing, “Dear friends and family, I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after battling cancer for several years. He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed.”
“We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss. Details for a memorial service will be shared soon. Thank you for your support,” Gunnar concluded.
Eudy was a multi-time World Champion in WWE (then WWF) and WCW as well and also had a double USWA heavyweight champion title. In honour of Eudy, whose wrestling career spanned decades, WWE put up a post on its social media handles writing, “WWE is saddened to learn that Sid Eudy has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.”

Tributes follow…
The wrestling community flooded the social media with tributes as soon as the news of Eudy’s passing broke out. Booker T Huffman, Sid’s WCW colleague and WWE legend highlighted Eudy’s impact on WWE and that “he paved the way” for so many other wrestlers. Wrestling icon Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) also expressed his sorrow saying that Eudy was a special personality and that he was unaware of his battle with cancer. Former wrestler Marc Mero also expressed his grief recalling that Eudy was the first wrestler he wrestled and sent his prayers to the Eudy family.
