Yashasvi Jaiswal surpasses Virat Kohli in elite list of batters led by Tendulkar

New Delhi: Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 82 runs on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test match between Australia and India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Thursday, December 27. He batted brilliantly but missed his well-deserved century by 18 runs after a terrible mix-up with Virat Kohli in the 41st over.

Jaiswal played a shot to mid-on and was looking to steal a single but his partner Kohli was ball-watching and didn’t even take a step ahead. He was fully committed and ended up running towards his partner at the non-striker’s end.

Australian skipper Cummins reacted quickly and threw the ball at the striker’s end and wicketkeeper Alex Carey picked the ball to effect the run-out. The Indian opener wasn’t happy as he walked back to the dressing room scoring 82 runs off 118 balls. The run-out also ended the 102-run partnership between Kohli and Jaiswal.
