New Delhi: Sports presenter and star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan has lashed out at trolls who mocked the couple’s young son, Angad Bumrah during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Angad and Sanjana were present in the stands as they cheered for Bumrah, but the visit soon became a “content” for the fans on the internet.
Sanjana, on Monday, took to Instagram to post a story, slamming a set of “vile” fans and defending her son, who was targeted for his facial expressions in a three-second clip that had gone viral. The story was also reposted by Bumrah himself. Sanjana’s reply to the trolls instantly went viral as several users supported her for calling out such fans and also ignited debate regarding the celebrities not wishing to reveal their children’s faces to the media.
“Our son is NOT a topic for your entertainment,” Sanjana wrote. “Jasprit and I do everything in our power to keep Angad away from social media because the Internet is a despicable, vile place to be and I completely understand the implications of bringing a child to a cricket stadium filled with cameras, but please understand that Angad and I were there to support Jasprit and nothing else,” she clarified.

“We have no interest in our son being viral Internet content or national news, with unnecessarily opinionated keyboard warriors deciding who Angad is, what his problem is, what his personality is, from 3 seconds of footage,” she added.
The 33-year-old cricket broadcaster also pointed out how one-and-a-half-year-old Angad was brutally trolled for his serious expression, specifically when Bumrah had taken a wicket and the whole ground was cheering, but Angad.
“He is one and a half years old. Throwing around words like trauma and depression in reference to a baby says so much about who we’re becoming as a community and it’s honestly really sad. You know NOTHING about our son, nothing about our lives and I request you to keep your opinions online true to that. A little honesty and a little kindness goes a long way in today’s world,” Ganesan concluded.

Should celebs not publicise their children?
In the past as well, Sanjana has always been vocal about what she felt wasn’t right. On numerous accounts, she has voiced her displeasure against the online trolls. As mentioned earlier, Sanjana’s reply has also sparked a debate on the internet about whether celebrities should bring their children to public when they are only toddlers. Many users lent support to Sanjana, also highlighting how Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have still refrained from revealing their children’s faces.

Indian cricket fans are the most vile fans on the planet. While they drool over women spectators in the stand, they also rip apart a 1.5 yo kid on SM. Sanjana & Jasprit don’t deserve this hate. Neither do Anushka & Virat. No celeb deserves to be treated like your effing doormat. pic.twitter.com/E6j91kYe25
