New Delhi: Yuvraj Singh brought flashed back the old good days of his duel against Australian bowlers after his crackling knock against Australia Champions in the semi-final of the World Championships of Legends 2024 on Friday in Northampton.
The southpaw smashed 59 runs off 28 balls, laced with four boundaries and five sixes, at a staggering strike rate of 210.71 as India posted a mammoth total of 254 for 6 in the first innings. In a minute-long video posted by the official broadcaster of the tournament on micro-blogging platform X, the Indian cricket fans can only sense nostalgia as Yuvraj played some of signature shots, directing us to trip down the memory lane.
A pull against Ben Laughlin towards extra cover, the sumptuous straight six against Xavier Doherty, a polished cut off Doherty to guide the ball towards the third region for another boundary, and there were plenty of many, which only exasperated Australian attack but chuffed the Indian supporters.

Yuvraj was well known to torment the Australian bowlers during his prime days with his flurry of magnificent strokes. He has bailed out India from precarious position in big tournaments – the 2007 T20 World Cup semi-final and 2011 World Cup quarterfinal are the most significant moments that defined his legacy.
Pathan brothers, Robin Uthappa help India decimate Aussie bowlers
Barring Yuvraj Singh’s charge, Robin Uthappa’s rollicking start (65 runs off 35 balls) at the top followed by the late assault from Yusuf Pathan (51* off 23 balls) and Irfan Pathan (50 off 19 balls) cruised India beyond 250, a norm set in the IPL 2024 this year.
Australia Champions were restricted to 168 for 7 thanks to brilliant efforts from Pawan Negi (2 for 35) and Dhawal Kulkarni (2 for 43). Tim Paine’s unbeaten 40 was the best performance from the legend players from Down Under but there was no collective efforts to stage a fightback.
India Champions will face Pakistan Champions in the final on Saturday at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
