Chennai: A special police team of Tamil Nadu’s Crime Branch Criminal Investigation department (CB-CID) arrested AIADMK ex-minister Vijayabhaskar in connection with the case related to the alleged grabbing of land worth more than Rs 100 crore in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district.
Vijayabhaskar booked under 7 IPC sections
The Karur town police had registered a case against seven persons including Vijayabhaskar, the former Transport Minister based on a complaint lodged by Mohamed Abdul Kadhar, the Sub Registrar (In-Charge) and Prakash, a businessman from Karur. The complaintant alleged that the accused had grabbed 22 acres of land worth 100 crores through fake documents. When he questioned them, they threatened him with dire consequences, he said in his complaint at the Karur Town Police Station..
Following this, the police have registered a case under 8 sections against 7 people and were investigating. An FIR was also registered against the former minister Vijayabhaskar. As a result, it was said that Vijayabhaskar could be arrested at any time and thus earlier Vijayabaskar had filed an anticipatory bail in the Karur court, however, the court rejected the bail plea twice.
AIADMK leader being brought to Tamil Nadu from Kerala
After this, the CBCID police formed a special team to arrest the AIADMK leader. It was said that he might have fled to Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In this situation, the police arrested former AIADMK minister MR Vijayabaskar in Kerala this morning. Steps have been taken to bring Vijayabhaskar to Tamil Nadu. It is reported that Vijayabhaskar will be brought to Karur area after being produced in the court in Kerala.
