Chennai: Amid scorching temperatures, the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) offers hope for relief as it predicts heavy rain in parts of Tamil Nadu for the next two days.
“An atmospheric low circulation prevails over the southeast regions. Due to this light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas on June 1. Nilgiris, hills of Coimbatore district, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Salem districts likely to receive heavy rainfall at a few places,” the weather agency said.
Similarly light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on June 2. Nilgiris, hills of Coimbatore district, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tirupattur, and Vellore districts will receive heavy rainfall in one or two places.
Maximum temperature forecast for five days
The maximum temperature about 2-3 degrees Celsius, above normal in a few parts of Tamil Nadu today, while the other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal regions may also be close to normal.
From June 1 to 04, the maximum temperature may decrease (1-3″ Celsius) over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal and be near normal/slightly above normal.
