New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Pat Cummins wreaked havoc with the new ball to leave Delhi Capitals (DC) reeling in the Powerplay during the clash between the two sides at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Monday, May 05. Cummins delivered a bowling masterclass, picking up three wickets in as many overs in the Powerplay to run through DC’s top order.
The SRH skipper led from the front with the new ball as he drew the first blood for his side by dismissing Karun Nair on a duck on the very first ball of the match. He returned to get rid of Faf du Plessis cheaply on 3 in the next over before dismissing Abhishek Porel on 8 off 10 balls in his next over to leave DC tottering on 3/15 in the 5th over.
It was a bowling masterclass from the Australian pacer, who jolted the DC batting line-up with his new-ball spell. Cummins struck on his first delivery to get Nair on a duck after managing to induce a slight edge off his bat with Ishan Kishan not making any mistakes behind he stumps. Du Plessis tried to break the shackles by trying to play across the line on a short delivery, but was caught behind by Kishan after a slight nick.
Cummins made it three wickets in three overs by getting the better of Porel on the first delivery of his next over. Porel tried to flick a good length delivery from the Australian pacer, but played it in the air and was caught by Kishan, who pulled off a great catch after covering some ground.

After Cummins’ bowling masterclass in the Powerplay, Harshal Patel managed to get rid of DC skipper Axar Patel cheaply on just 6, while Jaydev Unadkat dismissed KL Rahul on 10 off 14 balls as the visitors lost half their side for just 29 runs in the 8th over. Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hoping to bundle out Delhi Capitals for the lowest possible total after their impressive start.
