Dehradun: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed the officials to take action at a fast pace for the formation of Char Dham yatra Management Authority. He also directed to prepare an action plan soon to increase the carrying capacity in Yamunotri shrine. He gave these instructions in a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday.
All pilgrimages in the state will come under this authority
In this meeting, the CM Dhami said that the jurisdiction of the Char Dham Yatra Management Authority will not be limited to only four shrines, but the responsibility of managing all types of pilgrimages in the state will also come under the said authority. He also said that the main objective behind the formation of the authority is to enhance and promote all kinds of tourism in the state. He emphasized that there should be an institution that can discharge all the responsibilities and manage the pilgrimages in the state very well.
Increase the carrying capacity of Yamunotri shrine
The CM also mentioned that Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines in Uttarakhand have witnessed a huge footfall of pilgrims this year. Especially in this season, the number of pilgrims in Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines has increased up to two times. Hence, to accommodate this large number of pilgrims, concrete work should also be done to increase carrying capacity of Yamunotri shrine like construction of hotels, guest houses etc. The double engine government has laid special emphasis on development of Char Dham shrines and for that master plans are underway in Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines, apart from construction of All-weather Road.
Explore Kotdwar to make an option of Rishikesh
Since Haridwar and Rishikesh are witnessing massive traffic jams and clogged roads being the gateway of Char Dham pilgrimages in the state. CM Dhami also instructed officials to explore the possibility of diverting this inflow towards Kotdwar to reduce the burden on Rishikesh. The chief minister also directed the officials to complete the tender process for the construction of ropeways for Kedarnath Dham, Hemkund Sahib and Yamunotri Dham soon.
Rs 1200 crore projects to promote tourism in Tehri Lake
The tender process of ADB’s (Asian development bank)1200 crore project related to infrastructure should be expedited to promote tourism in Tehri Lake and surrounding areas. According to the CM, this project will help in increasing the tourism around Tehri Lake rapidly. This will make this lake an even bigger center of attraction. The Chief Minister also gave instructions to promote tourism up to Pauri district headquarters so that more and more people can reach here and this area can also be directly connected with tourism.
