All pilgrimages in the state will come under this authority

In this meeting, the CM Dhami said that the jurisdiction of the Char Dham Yatra Management Authority will not be limited to only four shrines, but the responsibility of managing all types of pilgrimages in the state will also come under the said authority. He also said that the main objective behind the formation of the authority is to enhance and promote all kinds of tourism in the state. He emphasized that there should be an institution that can discharge all the responsibilities and manage the pilgrimages in the state very well.

Increase the carrying capacity of Yamunotri shrine

The CM also mentioned that Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines in Uttarakhand have witnessed a huge footfall of pilgrims this year. Especially in this season, the number of pilgrims in Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines has increased up to two times. Hence, to accommodate this large number of pilgrims, concrete work should also be done to increase carrying capacity of Yamunotri shrine like construction of hotels, guest houses etc. The double engine government has laid special emphasis on development of Char Dham shrines and for that master plans are underway in Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines, apart from construction of All-weather Road.

The chief minister also directed the officials to complete the tender process for the construction of  ropeways for Kedarnath Dham, Hemkund Sahib and Yamunotri Dham soon.

The tender process of ADB’s (Asian development bank)1200 crore project related to infrastructure should be expedited to promote tourism in Tehri Lake and surrounding areas.
