Chennai water bodies to get auto flood forecast sensor; details inside

Chennai: In an effort to mitigate flooding, the Water Resources Department has started installing automatic rain gauges and weather stations, water level recorders, and gate sensors in nearly 253 locations across waterbodies and waterways spread over 5,000sq.km. The network will provide real-time data to the control room, which will help warn people and mitigate floods effectively.

Velacherry to get a modern flyover soon

The space below the Velachery flyover will soon become a most sought-after leisure destination soon. The CMDA has floated tenders to beautify and develop the space below the Velachery flyover into a park. The park will have a modern and aesthetically designed seating facility, lighting, walking track, lawn, hanging garden, wall murals, children’s play area, and more.

World bank to support Chennai’s solid waste management

In a measure to make the city ‘dump-free,’ the World Bank will lend support to Greater Chennai Corporation. At a meeting this week, the World Bank discussed with the civic body to stop dumping at Kodungaiyur by 2026-27. The World Bank will study the status of solid waste management in the city and assist in implementing various projects in the city.
