New Delhi: Lewis Hamilton drove his first Ferrari Formula One car on Wednesday, waving to fans as he drove in the team’s 2023-specification Ferrari SF-23 around Fiorana track in Maranello. Wearing his racing number 44 and a new helmet designed in yellow with the famous Prancing Horse logo, Hamilton waved to the fans who gathered to witness the moment.

The  40-year-old r set out in light fog for his first lap and waved to a crowd of thousands twice who were gathered on a nearby bridge. After 12 years at Mercedes, Hamilton’s move to Ferrari had made quite the stir last year having won six of his seven world titles with the team. However, the British driver has said that it was a childhood dream come true for him.

Lewis Hamilton’s ‘red dream’

Arriving at Ferrari headquarters in Maranello on Monday for his first day at work with his new team, Hamilton said that he was lucky to have achieved heights in his career that were nearly impossible to scale. However, the seven-time champion said that he always had a dream of “racing in red.”

After two days of work at the Maranello Hamilton went out the track in the SF-23 as part of acclimatization to the team, though he could only make a limited run as Hamilton is restricted to a 1,000 km by F1 known as testing of previous cars running regulations. F1 though is more stringent about testing current-specification cars. The pre-season testing of the season’s new cars will begin on February 26th and continue until February 28th in Bahrain.

While Lewis Hamilton is chasing his eighth World title, Ferrari are also looking for their first Constructors championship since 2008. Back then the drivers with Ferrari were Kimi Raikkonen and Felip Massa. This season they came to winning the title but ended up as runners-up in the season as McLaren clinched the title at the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.

Lewis Hamilton drove for the first time in a Ferrari F1 car around the Fiorana track at Maranello, just two days after joining the team in Italy, having made his move from Mercedes last year.  Sports Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
