New Delhi: Ace batter Virat Kohli is not new to be a crowd favourite and to be boasting a massive fan following in India which often leads to a havoc no matter where he is. The man with no. 18 on his back has rejoined RCB for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and is getting ready to feature in the tournament opener against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Ahead of the blockbuster clash, RCB held a massive team event at their home ground – the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, unveiling their complete squad’s presence in front of their huge fanbase. With each player being called upon the stage, the announcement of “Virat Kohli” created a huge uproar at the venue as the fans shouted “Kohli, Kohli…”, reaffirming their love for the star player.

Kohli and RCB
Kohli is one of the handful of players who have been playing for the same franchise since the inception of the IPL. It was in 2008 when he was sold to RCB for a mere sum of Rs. 12 lakh from the U-19 players draft. He went on to become a vital cog of the team in the coming years, gradually increasing his paycheck at the franchise, with the kind of services he was giving.
He captained the team from 2011 to 2023, for more than 100 matches, and helped in raising the standards of the team, but without a single trophy. Nonetheless, he currently takes a hefty sum of Rs. 21 crore from the RCB management, and the team will be eyeing the coveted trophy, to make it theirs for the first time ever in the history of the IPL.
IPL 2025 kicks off on March 22 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata where the home team KKR will lock horns with RCB, who will go all out in the opening clash in the quest of the IPL title.
