New Delhi: Prabhsimran Singh made the most of the life received in Punjab King’s 37-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in an IPL 2025 game.
The right handed hard-hitting batter blasted 91 runs off 48 balls as Punjab posted an imposing score of 236 for five after being sent int bat.
Singh smashed six boundaries and seven sixes and scored at a strike rate of 189.58 to capitalise on a dropped chance when he was on 48 by Nicholas Pooran at mid-off.
He produced a 78-run partnership with PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer (45) to lay a solid platform, which was utilised by Nehal Wadhera (16), Shashank Singh (33) and Marcus Stoinis (15) to help PBKS post a formidable total.
LSG’s reply came only from Ayush Badoni’s 40-ball 74 but apart from him none of their batters flourished as they were stopped at 199 for 7.
With the win, Punjab jumped up to secind spot with 15 points from 11 games while LSG stayed at seventh with 10 points in 11 games.
The dropped catch of Singh turned out to be a key moment in the game as he was later named the player of the match. Speaking after the game SIngh said that he was eager to make the dropped chance count.
“It is a very good knock and 2 points matters to us a lot and happy that it came in a winning cause. I was set when I was dropped, I wanted to capitalise on the drop,” he said.
Singh also credited his fellow batters, pointing out that one or other has scored big runs in each match in what has been an impressive campaign so far.
“Failed to read the wicket initially, it took a little time and then decided we need to make 200. Whatever the situation demands, someone from our batting unit has been stepping up every game and good that we are winning too.”
