Former IAS officer turned INC candidate Sasikanth Senthil records biggest electoral victory in Tamil Nadu polls 2024

Chennai: Sasikanth Senthil, former IAS officer, and INC candidate from Tiruvallur seat, recorded the biggest electoral victory in the Tamil Nadu Lok Sabha election 2024. He secured both the highest vote polled and the margin. He got 7,96,956 votes, won with the margin of 5,72,155

In the Tiruvallur constituency, Congress candidate Sasikanth Senthil defeated BJP candidate Pon Bala Ganapathy by a margin of 5,72, 155 votes and created a historic record. Congress candidate Sasikanth Senthil got 7,96,956 votes, BJP candidate Pon Balaganapathy 2,24,801 votes, DMDK candidate Nallathambi 2,23,904 votes and Naam Tamil Party secured 1,20,838 votes.

Sasikanth Senthil, from Tamil Nadu, started his IAS career in Karnataka in 2009. Served as Deputy Collector and District Collector for 10 years. After that, he resigned from the post of IAS on 6th September 2019 and joined the Congress party. Sasikanth Senthil was appointed as the Tamil Nadu state Congress spokesperson.

It may be recalled Former IPS officer and Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai was appointed by the BJP  as the in charge of the Karnataka assembly elections, while Sasikanth Senthil was appointed as in charge of the Congress party in Karnataka. Senthil had played an important role in the establishment of the Congress government in Karnataka.

After that, Sasikanth was also appointed as the head of the ‘Central War Room’ of the Congress party. Later he was given an opportunity to contest in Tiruvallur constituency. He made the best use of this opportunity and created a historic record by winning with the largest margin of votes in the state.
