New Delhi: The revised schedule of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 was announced by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Tuesday, June 25. Defending champions India will lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening game of the tournament on July 19. India were scheduled to open their campaign against UAE as per the earlier schedule but will now face Pakistan in their first game as per the latest update.
The tournament will kick off on July 19 with the final being played on July 28. For the first time in the history of the tournament, a total of 8 teams will be part of the competition. Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will start the tournament as favourites and will be hoping to successfully defend their title in Sri Lanka. All matches in the tournament will be played in Dambulla.
Defending champions India are in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, Nepal and UAE. The Group B features Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament. The 2022 edition of the tournament featured seven teams. Nepal will be the latest addition to the tournament in 2024.

India will lock horns with UAE on July 21 after playing their opener against Pakistan. Harmanpreet & Co. will lock horns with Nepal in their final group-stage game on July 23. India will be heading into the tournament on a confident note having recently clean-swept South Africa 3-0 in the three-match ODI series at home.
India produced a dominant display with the bat and the ball throughout the three-match rubber to outclass the visitors. Smriti Mandhana shone with the bat as she shattered the record for most runs by a batter in a three-match ODI series in the history of women’s cricket with an impressive 342 runs in three matches against the Proteas.
