New Delhi: History might be on the line when Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz battle for the Wimbledon 2024 crown but they enjoyed a light hearted moment before they stepped on to the Centre Court for the final.
World No.3 and reigning champion Alcaraz was a trifle embarrassed when they waited their named to be announced before entering the court.
When match officials asked who wants to enter the court first, there was a moment of confusion as both players hesitated to go first.
They took a moment before Alcaraz and Djokovic broke into a laughter when the Spaniard said: “You go first. I don’t know what the rules are”.
Serbian Djokovic, a seven time champion at the All England Club, smiled as he entered the court first.

In his tenth Wimbledon finl, Djokovic will be eyeing to win his eighth title and tie the record of Roger Federer.
Should he win it would also make him the first player – male of female – in tennis history to win 15th Grand Slam title, the most in the Open era.
He is tied with Margaret Court at 34 Major titles, two ahead of Rafael Nadal. Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in the final last year for his maiden Wimbledon title, winning a monumental match in five sets that ended the Serb’s run to win a fifth staright title.
The win had secured the top ranking for Alcaraz and made him only the second player, after Andy Murray, to beat Djokovic in a Wimbledon final.
Here. They. Come.
