‘Traffic ho jayega idhar’: Rohit Sharma tells fans on being mobbed for selfies in Mumbai – WATCH

New Delhi: Team India captain Rohit Sharma continues to receive immense love from the fans wherever he goes. The Hitman became only the second captain after MS Dhoni to lead India to T20 World Cup glory earlier this year and became the oldest captain to lift the trophy at 37. Rohit was recently mobbed for selfies by fans in his hometown Mumbai.

The Indian ODI and Test skipper is currently on a break and was last seen in action when he led India in the ODI series against Sri Lanka in August. Rohit-led India suffered a shock 2-0 series defeat against the hosts in Sri Lanka but that has not affected the fans’ admiration for the Hitman.

In a video going viral on social media, a handful of fans can be seen asking Rohit for selfies in Mumbai. The Indian captain obliged a fan for a picture before telling the others that it might lead to a traffic jam if he stopped and continued posing for selfies. “Traffic ho jayega idhar,” Rohit can be heard telling the fans as he entered his car.

Rohit was the only member from India’s 2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad who was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year. The Indian skipper announced his retirement from T20Is after becoming the only Indian player to win two T20 World Cup titles.

Rohit to return in Test series against Bangladesh

Earlier, reports had suggested Rohit might feature in the first round of matches of the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024-25 alongside a number of India regulars. However, the Indian skipper was allowed to skip the tournament alongside the likes of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Rohit will return to action when India host Bangladesh in a two-match Test series later this month.

Rohit will lead the hosts in the two-match series which is set to get underway on September 19. The first Test between the two sides will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai before the second game at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

Rohit Sharma was sorrounded by a group of fans in Mumbai, who asked him for selfies. The Indian Test and ODI skipper is currently enjoying his break.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
