Chennai: In a shocking incident on the set of ‘Sardar’s 2’, a stuntman tragically fell 20 feet to his death during a the shooting of a fight sequence in the film on Wednesday, July 17. The Virugambakkam police in Chennai are investigating the same.
Accident at Sardar2 shooting spot
According to sources, the shooting for the film began on 15th July on grand sets at Prasad Studios in Saligramam, Chennai. In an action scene, stuntman Yehumalai is involved without any safety equipment. Then unexpectedly, he fell down from a height of almost 20 feet. He was rushed to the hospital, however the doctors declared that he was dead. “Due to a fall from the top, he was injured in the chest area and had hemorrhaged in the lungs”, te Doctors said.
The deceased, the resident of New Washermenpet in Chennai had been working as a stunt artist in various movies for the past 35 years.
Police probe on
On being informed about this, Virugambakkam police went to the spot and sent the dead body of Yezhumalai to KK Nagar ESI Hospital for post-mortem. It is to be noted that earlier, Indian 2 shooting reported a crane accident which claimed three lives and injured 10 others.
“During the fight scene of actor Karthi’s upcoming movie “Sardar 2″ yesterday, artists engaged in stunt scenes using a rope. At that time,stuntman Ezhumalai fell down and died,” the Virugampakkam police said and are investigating the incident.
Tamil movie ‘Sardaar’ which was directed by PS Mithran and starring actor Karthi was well received. Following this, the shooting of the second part of the film, Sardar 2, started on the 12th July. The film is produced by Prince Pictures and Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
