Andhra Pradesh: YSRCP worker brutally hacked to death in Palnadu district

An activist from YSR Congress Party identified as Sheikh Rashid was brutally murdered on Wednesday night in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh, Tv9 telugu reported.

The incident happened at Vinukonda bus stand on the main road at around 8.30 pm and was caught on camera. Rashid reportedly worked as a cashier at a government run liquor shop.

Rashid who was a member of YSRCP youth wing, was attacked by Sheikh Jilani, who is allegedly a TDP activist and wielded a machete. Local eye witnesses say that Jilani severed both of Rashid’s arms and dealt a fatal blow to the victim’s neck.

Speaking to the media, Palnadu SP Srinivas said, “The attack happened due to personal rivalry between them and dismissed speculation of political motives.  Prohibitory orders have been levied in the area.”

He further said that any attempts at inciting unrest or disturbing peace in the area will be met with severe consequences. He said that the accused has been arrested and is being interrogated.

Both YSRCP and TDP blamed each other of indulging in partisan politics in statements released on their social media accounts.
