Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan said that it feels wrong to accept salary when his ministry is debt ridden.
Speaking at an event for pension distribution in Gollaprolu, Kakinanda, he said, “When officials asked about repairs to the camp office, I asked them not to do any for now. I said I will get my own furniture if necessary. I wanted to take salary for work, but there are no funds in Panchayati Raj department. We don’t know how many crores of rupees are owed. The more we dig, the more debts come to light. All this needs to be fixed.”
Addressing the pension hike, he said that after they came to power, pensions were increased and not decreased. “The state needs development along with welfare. Where did the Panchayat Raj funds go? A palace was built in Rushikonda with hundreds of crores of rupees. If the same funds were used, some development would have taken place.”
He further stated that he would only be satisfied if the government delivers for the people of the state. “I am not saying that miracles will be done. The government will be accountable,” he added.
Janasena won 21 Assembly seats in alliance with TDP and BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
