Bangladesh pacer overslept and missed T20 World Cup clash against India

New Delhi: A top official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that the fast bowler Taskin Ahmed missed the T20 World Cup match against India due to oversleeping and not responding to team management’s calls. As per the Cricbuzz report, Taskin was not answering the calls before the match and as a result missed the match against India.

A team official was forced to stay back in the hotel and he joined the squad late at the venue. Bangladesh played only two pacers against Rohit Sharma-led side, excluding Taskin from the playing XI. The decision was criticised by many experts and led to speculation why he was dropped from the squad.

A BCB official confirmed the reports to Cricbuzz and said that he missed the team bus and joined the team later.

“It is true that he (Taskin) joined the team later after missing the team bus. But why he did not play only the coach can say because whether he was in the plan or not (against India) is something that can be answered by the head coach” he said.

Taskin apologised to his teammates

The official also confirmed that there was no issue between the coach and Taskin. He also said that the player has apologised to his teammates for not being able to get up on time.
“If there was any issue (between coach and the player) how he played the next game against Afghanistan. He apologized to his teammates and everyone for not being able to get up on time and that’s it and no need to make an issue out of it,” he added.

The Men in Blue defeated Bangladesh by 50 runs at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Antigua. Hardik Pandya scored a crucial half-century for the team and Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets.
