New Delhi: The first day of the third Test match between Australia and India was washed out due to the continuous rain at the Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, December 14. Only 13.2 overs could be bowled on the opening day.
The fans who were at the stadium to watch the third Test will have something to cheer about as they get a full refund from Cricket Australia (CA). They will get the benefit due to a rule which allows them to get a full refund when less than 15 overs are bowled in a day’s play.
The board said that more than 30,000 fans will receive full refunds since the 15 overs were not completed on Day 1. Cricket Australia has the insurance to cover the losses caused by the bad weather. Day 2 of the third Test will start at 5:20 AM IST (09:50 AM local time) with a minimum of 98 overs to be bowled.

Australia 28/1 at Day 1 stumps
Australia scored 28 runs in 13.2 overs on Day 1 of the third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane. A steady drizzle stopped the match in the sixth over before the rain got heavier which prevented further action on day one.
With the rain continuing to fall heavily the play was finally called off at 4:15 pm local time. As per Cricket Australia’s ticketing policy, single-match ticket holders are eligible for a 100 per cent refund on their tickets for a full day of a Test match if 15 overs are not bowled and also if there is no result.
The Men in Blue won the opening Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 295 runs in Perth but the Aussies made a great comeback and won the second day-night Test by 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval. Team India need to win all the remaining matches of the five-match Test series to qualify for third consecutive WTC final.
