New Delhi: Team India pacer Arshdeep Singh hailed Jasprit Bumrah for bowling like a ‘video game’ as he revealed how the senior fast bowler has made it easier for him to take wickets in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Both Bumrah and Arshdeep have enjoyed great campaigns for India with the ball and have troubled opposition teams while bowling in tandem.
While Bumrah has been exceptional with both the new and the old ball, Arshdeep has also been consistently among the wickets for the Men in Blue. Arshdeep is currently India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 15 wickets from 6 matches while Bumrah is second with 11 wickets from as many games.
Arshdeep recently sat down for a chat with his teammate Kuldeep Yadav ahead of India’s all-important clash against England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. In the video shared by the BCCI, Arshdeep told Kuldeep how Bumrah has played a key role in his success in the tournament so far. The left-arm pacer praised Bumrah for his brilliant show in the tournament so far and said the senior pacer has made it easier for him to bowl with the new ball.
Bumrah’s ability to restrict runs with his disciplined line and length helps Arshdeep as batters take more risks against him, giving him more chances of taking their wickets. Arshdeep said Bumrah deserves credit for his wickets in the tournament so far.
“I do not think there is anything difficult (bowling with new ball). Because Jassi bhai (Jasprit Bumrah) is bowling like a video game. He bowls with an economy rate of just two or three runs. So the batters feel the pressure and they try to go hard against me. They play high-risk shots and there is a high chance of getting wickets. So he deserves a lot of credit for my wickets,” the left-arm pacer told Kuldeep.
Arshdeep also praised the other Indian bowlers, who he feels are doing well by bowling in partnerships to create pressure on the batters and take wickets. While Bumrah and Arshdeep have been the stand-out performers with the ball for the Men in Blue, the likes of Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep and Axar Patel have also performed well.
“And all the other bowlers we have is also helping me out. They’re bowling in partnerships. One is stopping runs from one end and the other is getting wickets. So as a bowling unit, everyone is clicking well and the support is good,” said Arshdeep.
