New Delhi: Babar Azam faced a lot of criticism after he got out on a duck on day 1 of the Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. The former Pakistan Test captain is again in the spotlight after he dropped a simple catch of Mushfiqur Rahim on Day 4.
After Pakistan declared their innings on 448/6, the home team were expected to dominate the match with the ball. But the Bangladeshi batters had other plans as they batted brilliantly and helped the team to take a crucial 117-run lead in the first innings.
Babar dropped a simple catch in the 142nd over of the innings. Salman Agha bowled a flighted delivery and Rahim tried to dab the ball down but ended up hitting the ball in the air, Babar got a simple chance to take the catch at leg slip but he dropped it and gave a much-needed lifeline to Mushfiqur Rahim.
Mushfiqur was batting on 150 when the star batter dropped his catch and he went on to score 191 runs off 341 balls with 22 boundaries and one six. Mohammad Ali dismissed Rahim when he needed just 9 runs to score his double-hundred. During his knock, Rahim stitched crucial partnerships with Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan.
Bangladesh got all-out for 565 runs. Naseem Shah took three wickets while Shaheen, Khurram and Mohammad Ali picked up two wickets each. Shoriful Islam dismissed Saim Ayub for one run at the start of the second innings and Pakistan finished Day 4 at 23/1.
