New Delhi: Manchester United midfielder Casemiro didn’t have an impressive outing against Liverpool as his side was thrashed 3-0 at home in Old Trafford. The Brazilian international lost possession on several occasions, which helped the visiting sides take a 2-0 lead in the halftime, as Casemiro was substituted in the 46th minute with Toby Collyer.
Both times, Casemiro was at fault, with the first goal happening when he misplaced a pace in the midfield in the 35th minute. Within seven minutes, the 32-year-old was again dispossessed on his side of the field, resulting in Carlos Diaz scoring his second of the game.
Fans and critics alike were unhappy with the performance and lashed out at Casemiro, with some even suggesting that the management should terminate his contract with United. However, Casemrio’s wife came to his defence and jogged everyone’s memory with the midfielder’s achievements so far.

Taking to Instagram story, Casemiro’s wife posted a photo of his trophy cabinet that features five UEFA Champions League trophies and other achievements from his career. The former Real Madrid midfielder has lifted three La Liga trophies and three Club World Cups in his career. Despite starting for United thrice this season, Casemiro might not be guaranteed minutes at the Old Trafford club.
Manchester United haven’t had the best start to the season despite winning their opening game 1-0 against Fulham. They have now lost back-to-back matches this season, losing 2-1 against Brighton and Liverpool. The Red Devils’ manager, Erik Ten Hag, would look to have a tactical plan in place that would bring them positive results in the season that is still in the beginning stage.
With Manuel Ugarte coming from Paris Saints-Germain for a reported price of £42.1m, Casemiro could be pushed to the bench. Ugarte would accompany Kobe Mainoo, and Bruno Fernandes would be featured in the No. 10 role. Despite being an experienced campaigner, critics, including former Man United defender Gary Neville, have noted that Casemiro’s recent performances have been ‘disappointing’. With Sunday’s loss, Man United are 14th in the points table.
