Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday and and sought the Central government’s support for crucial proposals for the state’s development.
Naidu spoke to the PM on issues related to the development of Andhra Pradesh including capital Amaravati, speeding up pending works, the dam for irrigation projects of the state, the overall financial condition of the state and discussed the assistance expected from the central government.
Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a vital partner in the BJP-led NDA government, also sought enhanced assistance for Andhra Pradesh if the special category status cannot be granted to the state, sources said.
Taking to his social media platform X, Naidu said, “I am confident that under his leadership, our State will re-emerge as a powerhouse among states.”
Before meeting the Prime Minister, Naidu also met Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to discuss “How NDA government can aid in ushering an era of prosperity and growth for the state.”
During his two-day visit to Delhi, Naidu also met Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss National Highway Projects. “I’m confident that together, we shall take Andhra Pradesh further on the road to progress and prosperity,” Naidu wrote.
Sources indicated that Naidu is scheduled to meet several other Union ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Health Minister J P Nadda.
The Andhra Pradesh chief minister’s Delhi visit is seen as crucial for securing Central support for the state’s development following its bifurcation in 2014.
