New Delhi: Former UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliviera expressed his interest in fighting against former UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski. Both fighters are not active in the UFC for a long time as both lost their previous bouts. Volkanovski lost his title against Ilia Topuria in his last fight and now he is in two back-to-back losses. While Oliviera lost his last fight against Arman Tsarukyan in UFC 300.
Volkanovski fought twice in the lightweight division in the UFC and lost both his fights in the upper division but both times his opponent was Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev. Oliviera will not go to the Featherweight division, it will all depend on Volkanovski if he can come again in the Lightweight division.
Why not? It would be a great honor. A great fighter, a great name. So why not?… Waiting to see what the UFC will bring for us,” Oliviera said on fighting in a super fight against Volkanovski.
If the fight is scheduled for the upcoming event, it will be a fight to watch out for as both fighters have different skills as Oliviera depends on his BJJ and has the most submissions in the lightweight division whereas Volkanovski fights the majority of his fights on the foot but have great skills in defending himself against grappling.
Dan Hooker’s next target is Charles Oliveira after his win in UFC 305
Dan Hooker stunned everyone by defeating Mateusz Gamrot via split decision at UFC 305. Gamrot was the no. 5 ranked lightweight fighter and Hokker was coming from a long one-year break but Hooker came with more focus and was prepared for the fight. After his win, Hokker said, “Yeah, they want Charles, it’s a good fight but I mean there’s heaps of cool s*** I could do that”. Hooker will also eye on the Lightweight title by winning one or two fights back-to-back.
