Chennai: Bringing a much-needed relief, the Chennai Corporation passed a resolution to introduce a single window system to facilitate sanction of building permission based on self-certification without the requirement of a completion certificate. Plot sizes up to 2,500 sq. ft. and built-up areas up to 3,500 sq. ft. for the construction of residential structures with ground or ground plus one floor will be eligible for instant registration without the requirement of a building permission. A common fee for the same will be fixed soon, according to officials.
Small buildings in Chennai not require any certificate
Meanwhile, now constructing a small shop in Chennai that is not more than 300 sq.ft has become easier as the state government has exempted commercial buildings of this size from obtaining a completion certificate. Earlier the buildings had to get completion certificate to obtain services like electricity and water connections. The announcement was made by urban development minister S Muthusamy.
Chennai metro phase 2 will be outsourced
Considering the increasing number of projects including Metro in tier-2 cities, taking over of MRTS and modernisation of bus termini in Chennai, the CMRL has decided to outsource operations and maintenance of trains and stations in Phase II network. It is expected that a tender will be floated soon to appoint a private firm which will manage the entire operations and maintenance.
Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has finally rolled out single window system for plan approvals. As per the new system, once the application is uploaded, the planning authority will coordinate with 21 other depts to get NOC.
